Psalm 40
4. Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5. Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
6. Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
All throughout Scripture, truths can spring forth, as in these verses. In 4 we read we are to put our trust in the LORD, do not respect the proud,as in putting them on a pedestal above others because of their pride. The angels who fell with Lucifer did this same thing. He fell because of pride, they followed because they trusted in his pride and they turned aside to his lies as millions of people do every day.
GOD’S many works and HIS thoughts are directed toward believers. Sometimes those works and thoughts may be hard to see but rest assured, they’re still there because HE loves HIS children.
Jesus was the final sacrifice for sin, there is no more need for burnt offerings or sin offerings. Verse 6 is prophetic in nature and meaning in that it is fulfilled hundreds of years later with the death and resurrection of our Messiah, Jesus the Christ.
Bless GOD and have a blessed day.
