Scripture of the Day

Matthew 6

31. Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32. (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Proverbs 2

10. When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11. Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
12. To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
13. Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14. Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
15. Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

Injured Christian in Bangladesh refused help Friends, 29-year-old Ruhul Amin

https://www.opendoorsusa.org/prayerapp Injured Christian in Bangladesh refused help Friends, 29-year-old Ruhul Amin, a new Christian convert from Islam, was in an accident last month and broke his right hand and leg. When his neighbors heard about the accident, they started to curse him and his family saying, “This is the curse of Allah for your conversion and rejecting Islam. You still have time to repent and return [to Islam].” They are refusing to help the family and encouraging other villagers to do the same. He was released from the hospital after several days because there were no doctors available to treat him due to the coronavirus pandemic. A doctor told his family, “[Ruhul] will be OK, but he may need several operations.” Ruhul’s father, a pastor and Open Doors partner, was able to borrow some money to send Ruhul for surgery in another hospital. However, his father shares the cost for the surgery is more than the amount he could borrow: “It is very expensive and we cannot afford to pay.”  Thanks to your prayers and support, Open Doors local partners have since been able to provide Ruhul with some financial support.  Please join us in praying for God to provide the finances needed for Ruhul’s continued treatment. Pray for other believers to come alongside Ruhul and his family and support them in their needs.  Pray for Ruhul’s full recovery, both physically and emotionally, and that he will be able to start work to support his family soon.  Pray for the family to have a strong faith in Christ during this crisis. Pray the villagers’ mocking and defaming will not affect Ruhul and his family’s faith in Him and that the villagers would come to know Christ themselves. Bizarre EU Funded Comic Book Predicted Pandemic, With Globalists As Saviours

Complete story here.

A strange comic book that was commissioned for publication by the European Union in 2012 eerily predicted almost exactly what has unfolded with the Covid-19 global pandemic. However, in this propaganda laced presentation of the outbreak, unelected globalist bureaucrats save the planet.

The comic book, titled ‘Infected’, was a production of the European Commission’s international cooperation and development arm. It was not intended for widespread public consumption, but instead to be distributed inside EU institutions. Only a few hundred of the comic books were made.

The EU’s description of the strange publication states that “While the story may be fictional, it is nevertheless intertwined with some factual information.”

The graphic novel depicts scientists inside a lab in China experimenting with deadly pathogens.

Scripture of the Day

James 3

5. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6. And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
7. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8. But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12. Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
13. Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

Renounce Christ or be disowned in Vietnam

https://www.opendoorsusa.org/prayerapp Renounce Christ or be disowned in Vietnam Friends, recently in Vietnam, new believers Giang* and his family were kicked out of their village for sharing the gospel. Giang and his wife had told his parents, relatives and some villagers about Jesus during the coronavirus lockdown, but the message was not well-received. Last week, relatives and villagers went to Giang’s house and furiously demanded Giang and his family deny Christ. They told the couple that if they did not, they would be forced to leave the village and would be disowned by their families. Giang and his wife tried to explain God’s goodness and how their lives have changed because of Christ but the villagers became hysterical and shouted at the family to leave the village immediately!   Giang, his wife and three children are now living in another village at a church member’s house. They were not allowed to take anything with them and their families have disowned them. The intention of their community is to force them to go hungry so that Giang and his family will have to return to their old village and accept whatever persecution they receive. Please join us in praying that God will continue to provide for Giang and his family. Pray God continues to use church members as a channel of blessing to Giang.  Pray Giang’s parents, relatives and the villagers will encounter God in their lives and the seeds that have been planted will bear fruit in God’s perfect timing. Pray local partners of Open Doors will have wisdom as they assess the situation of Giang’s family.  Please tap on the “Submit prayer” button to share your prayers and we will share them with these believers. *Representative names and photos are sometimes used to protect identity.

Christians minister to flood victims in Uzbekistan

https://www.opendoorsusa.org/prayerapp Christians minister to flood victims in Uzbekistan Friends, in early May, a dam in Uzbekistan burst, due to heavy rain and strong winds. The destruction meant more than 70,000 people needed to be evacuated from flood areas. There are several illegal churches—churches not registered with the State—and secret home churches for deaf Christians in these flooded areas.  Many people, Christians included, lost their houses, food, crops, clothing and important documents in the flooding. Christians from the neighboring towns and cities are accepting evacuees, giving them what little they may have.  One Christian man who hosted two families (12 people) in his house shared with Open Doors, “Even though we [don’t have] enough food for our children because I can’t work in quarantine, we accepted those who are in much worse position—they lost everything. I can’t give a lot, but I want to share what I have and share God’s love with them—this is what I can do for them.”  Some Christians accepted up to five families in their homes without any promise of help from the government. Unfortunately, the government does not guarantee any kind of financial support to those who have lost everything.  Please pray the rain and wind die down quickly. Pray the government of Uzbekistan gives financial compensation to flood victims. Pray that Christians find their hope in Christ and share this hope with others who have suffered losses.  Pray for provision for Christian families from neighboring areas who invite flood victims in to live with them. *Representative names and photos are sometimes used to protect identity.

Praise: Falsely accused pastor home in Kazakhstan Friends, recently we asked you to join us in praying for Pastor Jakim

https://www.opendoorsusa.org/prayerapp Praise: Falsely accused pastor home in Kazakhstan Friends, recently we asked you to join us in praying for Pastor Jakim*, who was arrested for missionary activity during Kazakhstan’s coronavirus quarantine. Local Christians believe the whole incident was a setup, intended to provide an excuse to arrest Jakim. Thankfully, we just received word that Jakim had his court hearing and only received a small fine, which he was able to pay. He is now back at home with his family!  Thank God for delivering Pastor Jakim! Pray Jakim will be bold in sharing the gospel and spreading the love of Christ during the coronavirus pandemic. Pray what was meant to harm Jakim would instead bring glory to Christ! *Representative names and photos are sometimes used to protect identity.

Nigeria: Miraculous outcomes in violent attack Friends, Pastor Bayo Famonure

https://www.opendoorsusa.org/prayerapp Nigeria: Miraculous outcomes in violent attack Friends, Pastor Bayo Famonure and his family were violently attacked by militant Fulani herdsman on May 5 in Nigeria. Bayo is well-known for his missionary and evangelical work throughout Africa. We thank the Lord for His miraculous protection of this family as the outcome of this attack could have been much worse. Bayo was shot in the head and feet, though the shots did not penetrate his skull or damage any bones in his feet. His wife Naomi was shot in the back, yet the bullet did not reach her spinal cord. The doctor said if the bullet had penetrated just a fraction more, Naomi would have been paralyzed. Their sons, Adua and Victor, also sustained gunshot wounds that were not very serious. In a message Bayo sent, he shared “It’s a miracle … Just praise God.” Bayo is stable and recovering with his sons. Naomi underwent successful surgery to remove the bullet from her back. She is currently in a stable condition and recovering. Please join us in thanking God for his protection, as this attack could have ended very differently.  Pray this story would serve as a powerful testimony of the Lord’s protection. Pray for a quick and full recover for Bayo, Naomi, Adua and Victor, both physically and emotionally. Pictured: Pastor Bayo Famonure

Christians suffer violence and hunger in Colombia Friends, Pastor Amanda

https://www.opendoorsusa.org/prayerapp Christians suffer violence and hunger in Colombia Friends, Pastor Amanda*—longtime partner of Open Doors—shares that rebel groups are now harassing and threatening to kill anyone suspected of having coronavirus in some remote areas of Colombia. Churches are all closed due to coronavirus quarantine. Rebel groups are warning pastors to stay at home, telling them if they go out to preach or carry out any pastoral work, they may be killed. Pastors are also challenged by being in an area where electricity is scarce and there is limited access to the internet, making staying connected with their congregations difficult. Many in Pastor Amanda’s church are currently not working and are struggling. “The Church is going through a tough time,” she told Open Doors. “Many people in our congregation are now feeling the negative impact of having been out of work for weeks. Those with some savings will run out of money soon, and [a] few are relying on their crops to survive.” Most churches in Colombia rely on donations made by their congregations to not only maintain church buildings but also help feed the hungry, send children to school, and in many cases, provide housing for homeless or displaced families.  Pastor Amanda says everyone in these areas are being stretched to the limit. “This situation cannot be sustained for much longer. Nowadays, it is easier to die from hunger or violence than from coronavirus.” Please join us in praying for provision for believers both physically and spiritually. Pray the church in Colombia would find creative ways to stay connected. Pray there would be an end to the violence perpetrated by rebel groups. *Representative names and photos are sometimes used to protect identity.

Scripture of the Day

Second Corinthians 2

14. Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
15. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
16. To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
17. For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
